Newyorkers walk and take the subway. As a traveler you should do the same. Above the floor there is a lot of life, under the floor there is a lot of life too. New York subway takes you everywhere in the city you want to go. It’s cheap and fast. You might consider taking special tickets for various days and save some money.
I realized in subway more than everywhere else in the city, how free from stereotypes newyorkers are. Of course, you are going to find lots of tourists who are looking at everything, but you’ll distinguish the real newyorkers as most of them don’t pay much atention on what’s happening around them.
