Shakespeare and Company bookstore – Paris, France

When I think of all the literary giants who lived and worked in this store it makes me shiver: Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Stein, Miller, Kerouac… And inside, the smell of the books crammed together on tottering shelves, the natural courtesy of the people browsing as you squeeze by them, the tinkling of the old piano upstairs, and the comfortably musty overstuffed chairs in the reading rooms… it´s like stepping back into a quieter time. A paradise for lovers of books and words, and a Paris landmark!
